The Purge: Anarchy, 2014
The Purge: Anarchy is as good as its predecessor, very excruciating! The first film had me carried away with people having revenge, the difference now with this second film is that it had a heart. It still has the element of politics, wealth and poverty but I was stunned to feel as one with the characters to stop “The Purge” and that it is not a form of “cleansing”. What’s more exciting about it is the bigger exploration of the film, with more politics involved, more rich people excitedly killing the poor and more people trying to survive. And the best part is the fate of the characters at the end of the film that made me cry. Truly, revenge is not the answer to anger, it should be forgiveness. I’m hoping for a third film, probably the next franchise I’d follow after the Saw series.
