Lady Gaga is one of the best breakthrough artists of the past year, Beyonce is one of the best powerbelting singers and performers of her generation, Katy Perry is the modern Pop diva people talk about and Rihanna is known for her catchy music and chants, but Britney Spears, she might not be a powerbelter or the talk of the town, but she has garnered herself the status “LEGENDARY” and “ICONIC“.
If Madonna and Michael Jackson would have a child, it would have been Britney Spears. She has always been levelled with them, in terms of sales, recognitions and popularity. They say Madge is the Queen of Pop, MJ is the King of Pop and Britney Spears is the Princess of Pop. Britney said in one of her interviews that she doesn’t have to prove anything anymore. It’s sounds bad but that’s the truth and I agree with that. Britney only had one Grammy Award, best Dance Recording for Toxic, but the Grammys is not the measurement of being the greatest artist. She had a movie but was never given recognition for it, but still she did not stop on guesting in TV shows or having tributes on TV or having cameo roles in some movies. Awards for a movie do not measure the greatness of an artist. Rather, it is measured on how much an artist gives influence to other singers and creating a trend that the new generation will follow and will become a standard. Admit it, Britney Spears is the epitome of breathtaking performances, coming from a jaw-dropping performance of Baby One More Time, an eye-popping performance of Oops I Did It Again, an exhilarating performance of Slave 4 U, a headliner liplock with Madonna to a very explosive Circus show, Britney has reinvented herself, and truly she outdid herself. And being the ultimate artist of the new millennium, artists today tend to level that and be grater, but honestly no artist is better than Britney Spears until today. Britney also popularized or led the trends in the music industry coming from the rebirth Teen Pop with Baby One More Time, dark pop in Gimme More and the dubstep in Hold it Against Me, she proved that in different times she can become a pillar in the industry she’s in. Lady Gaga may have chart topping songs and Beyoncé may have amazing performances, but Britney has already been there and done that, and she is now trying something new to offer new things to her fans, and will definitely be another standard for her competitors out there.
September 2012 is Britney’s month. She may not release an album or a song this year but she has lots of activities to do which proves that artistry does not just rely on singing. She is set to be the cover of Elle Magazine, have guestings at The Ellen Show and Jimmy Kimmel Live, the release of her Fantasy Twist fragrance, the release of her Twister Dance commercial, another Glee Tribute episode and to become a judge at The X Factor USA. Britney deserves all the work, recognition and praise she deserves and from this, all of us Britney stans consider her as our new queen, not just our queen but the New Queen of Pop. Well we believe Madonna already passed the throne as they kissed during the VMAs, and ultimately she deserves to be since she has proven herself worthy, from all the work she has done to the trials that she has passed. She is more than just a queen, she is a fighter inside a royalty that deserves to be praised, still maintaining her humility and silence covering everything with sweetness. Truly, she is the sweetest candy every Britney fan wants, a sweet music to our ears and sweet wonder for our eyes. As a Britney fan, she is the ultimate inspiration, and just like her, we will go through life “like a Karate kid”.
